Culture significance writing (week 2 lock down)

Hello! this week we have been learning about culture significance and we had to do puruasive writing about is kapa haka good for us.

 so let's get started!

Date:lock down 1 august 2021

Purpose: to persuade

Audience: my parents

R.T: persuade my audience

Introduction…

What is kapa haka? Kapa haka is a historical dance that the maoris used to scare, welcome and bless other people. Kapa haka is a confidence building, physical improving and an enjoyable subject.

Argument 1

I think that kapa haka is good for confidence because it makes you proud of something and lets you’re emotions out.

Argument 2

I think that kapa haka is good for physical movement.

You have to stomp you’re feet and do hand actions, movement and facial expression. You express yourself by actions.

Argument 3

It is good for enjoyment. I like the way the words weave together and the songs. But it is not always fun for everyone so it should be optional.

So in conclusion…

Kapa haka is good for confidence, physical movement and enjoyment so you can let your emotions out and come together as one! But I think it should be optional, not forced.

thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoy you're lock down :)

  2. Hi Lily, you have demonstrated good structure in your persuasive writing by including an introduction, main paragraphs and a conclusion. You have summed up your arguments in both the intro and conclusion and have provided some background knowledge about your topic of Kapa Haka. Ka Pai!

Your second argument was well explained because you described how kapa haka helps with physical movement. Continue to do that across all your writing:)

You mentioned that kapa haka should be optional. I think the reader would be interested to hear more about that.

  3. Hi Lily,
Thanks for sharing your writing. You have a real talent for summing up things very precisely. When you said, "It lets you be proud of something and let your emotions out," I found myself really agreeing with you. That's exactly how I feel when I get to do kapa haka. Thanks for putting those feelings into words.
